Waiting on a Qatar Visa? Check It Yourself in Two Minutes

Your sponsor says "it's processing." Your agent says "almost ready." Meanwhile, the real answer is sitting on Qatar's official MOI website — and you can see it yourself, free, with nothing but your passport number. These guides show you exactly how, in simple steps.

This opens Qatar's official Ministry of Interior website — the only place your status is checked.

Steps checked against the live MOI portal: October 2026

Check Your Visa Status on the Official Portal

First, tell us which number you have — we'll tell you exactly what to keep ready. Then the button below takes you to the government's own portal to do the actual check.

Keep your passport number and nationality ready — you'll enter them on the official MOI portal, not here. On the portal, choose Inquiries → Visa Services → Visa Inquiry and Printing, and set Search By to Passport Number.

The actual check happens on the official MOI website. We never ask for your passport or visa number.

The 60-second version

  1. Open portal.moi.gov.qa in your phone or computer browser.
  2. From the menus choose Inquiries, then Visa Services, then Visa Inquiry and Printing.
  3. Set Search By to Passport Number.
  4. Type your passport number, pick your nationality, solve the CAPTCHA, and press Search.

That's it — your visa's current stage and its validity dates show on the screen immediately. No account. No password. No fee.

Different question, different guide. Start with the one that sounds like you.

I only have my passport number

Most people do. Your visa number doesn't exist yet — but your passport number is already in the system. Here's how to check with it.

I have a visa number or application number

Got the 15-digit visa number from your approval paper, or an application number from your sponsor? Two more ways to look up the same record.

The portal shows a status I don't understand

"Under Outside Process." "Ready to Print." "Valid to Use." Each message means something specific — and each one asks something different from you.

It says "not found" — now what?

Don't panic. A blank result is usually a small typing slip, a wrong nationality, or a visa that simply hasn't been entered yet. Work through the fixes.

My visa is approved — how do I print it?

Download the official PDF from the portal, check every detail on it, and print a copy that immigration will accept without questions.

I'm already in Qatar — what about Metrash2?

The MOI's phone app is how residents handle visa and permit matters from inside Qatar. What it does, what it can't do, and how the QID login works.

How long is my work visa valid — and renewal?

Entry visa, residence permit, Qatar ID — three different things with three different clocks. Which one to watch, and how renewal actually happens.

How it works →

⚠️ Read this before you trust anyone

A real Qatar visa can always be found on the official MOI portal — that's the whole test. So never pay an agent extra to "confirm" your visa, never send passport photos to strangers on WhatsApp, and never type your passport number into any site that isn't an official gov.qa address. A screenshot from an agent proves nothing; two minutes on the portal proves everything.

Questions everyone asks first

My sponsor applied yesterday. When will my visa appear?

Give it a little time. Tourist e-visas often show within 24–48 hours, while work and family visas commonly take 7–10 working days or more, because medical and paperwork steps sit in between. Checking five times a day won't speed it up — once in the morning is plenty.

Does checking my status cost anything?

No. The lookup on the MOI portal is a free public service. If any website or person asks you to pay just to check a status, walk away — you're being scammed.

The result shows my name spelled differently. Problem?

Yes — flag it immediately. The name on your visa must match your passport exactly, letter for letter. A mismatch can stop you at the airport, so tell your sponsor to get it corrected before you travel.

Can my family check my visa for me?

They can — the portal only asks for a passport number and nationality, no login. Just make sure it's family you trust, since the result screen shows your visa details.
